What you'll be doing

A day as an SCA

  • Leading care on the floor during your shift and being a point of contact for the team.
  • Safely administering and recording medication, following the MAR chart and policy.
  • Supporting and mentoring HCAs, helping newer colleagues find their feet.
  • Contributing to care plans and risk assessments, and keeping records accurate.
  • Delivering hands-on personal care with dignity when needed.
  • Escalating concerns to the nurse in charge and upholding safeguarding at all times.

What we're looking for

Is this you?

  • Experience as a senior carer — or an experienced HCA ready to step up.
  • NVQ / Diploma Level 3 and above in Health & Social Care.
  • Medication training and competency — mandatory for SCA shifts.
  • Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Satisfactory references covering your recent work history.
  • Calm, reliable and a natural leader, comfortable using a smartphone app for your shifts.

We pay competitive hourly rates with enhancements for nights, weekends and bank holidays. You choose how much you work — pick up a shift here and there, or build a full week around your regulars. No minimum commitment, ever.

Frequently asked questions

Do I choose my own shifts?

Yes. You see every available SCA shift that matches your grade in the app and accept the ones that suit you — from your phone, whenever you like. There's no obligation to take a minimum number of shifts.

Do I need to be medication trained?

Yes. Medication-administration training and competency are mandatory for SCA shifts, as most involve supporting or administering medication.

How and when do I get paid?

You submit your timesheet from the app once you finish a shift. When the home approves it, payment follows on our regular weekly pay run.

What do I need to get started?

Experience as a senior carer or an experienced HCA ready to step up, with an NVQ / Diploma Level 3 or above and mandatory medication training and competency. Plus the right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS (or willingness to get one) and satisfactory references. We'll guide you through document verification when you register.
