Why MAP HealthCare

Night work, without the rota deciding your life

Most night staff are handed a rota. With MAP HealthCare Connect you're handed a list — every night shift that matches your grade, with the home, the hours and the rate on the card. Take the nights that fit around your family, your studies or your days, and leave the rest.

Nights in your pocket

Every available night shift that matches your RGN grade, live in the app. Accept the ones you want with a tap.

Get rebooked

Know a home's night routine and they can invite you straight back — the same residents, the same team, week after week.

Enhanced night rates

Nights pay more than days. The rate for each shift is on the card before you accept, and you're paid weekly.

Push notifications

Late-notice nights get filled fast. Be first to know when a matching shift or a rebook invite lands.

Fully supported

We help you through document verification and compliance, and there's someone to reach if a night goes sideways.

Your days back

No minimum shifts, no pressure. Nights free up the school run, lectures or a second job — on your terms.

What you'll be doing

A night as an RGN

  • Taking clinical charge of the floor overnight and leading the night care team.
  • Recognising and escalating deterioration — the call to ring the GP, 111 or an ambulance is yours to make.
  • Managing and administering medication, including controlled drugs, to NMC standards.
  • Carrying out clinical tasks — wound care, catheter and other nursing interventions.
  • Supervising and supporting the HCAs and SCAs on nights, and settling residents who wake in pain or distress.
  • Documenting accurately, upholding the NMC Code, and giving the day nurse a clear clinical handover.

What we're looking for

Is this you?

  • Active NMC registration as a Registered General Nurse, with a valid PIN — mandatory.
  • Registered nurse qualification (adult / general nursing).
  • Post-registration experience in a care home or similar setting (preferred).
  • Confident holding clinical responsibility overnight, frequently as the only nurse on site.
  • Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Satisfactory references, calm clinical judgement, and happy working a waking night.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

What hours is a night shift?

Night shifts are usually 20:00 to 08:00, though exact times vary by home. Every shift in the app shows the home, the date and the precise start and finish times before you accept it, so you always know what you're committing to.

Are these waking nights or sleep-in shifts?

These are waking night shifts. You're awake and on duty for the whole shift, holding clinical responsibility for the floor alongside the night care team.

Do I need to be NMC registered?

Yes. An active NMC registration as a Registered General Nurse with a valid PIN is mandatory for all RGN shifts, day or night.

Do night shifts pay more?

Yes. Night work carries an enhanced rate, with RGN pay reaching up to £40 per hour including enhancements for nights, weekends and bank holidays. The exact rate for every night shift is shown in the app before you accept.

Will I be the only nurse on site?

On many night shifts you're the nurse in charge, supported by a team of HCAs and SCAs, with a manager or clinical lead reachable on call. The staffing for each shift is confirmed with the home before you start.
